It has been very hot and humid here, by northcoast standards anyway, and we finally dug the window air conditioner out of the sauna-like attic space and stuck it into our bedroom window. I woke up this morning after a nice cool nights' sleep to this dream:

Tim and I are driving through a nearby city. I am riding in the passenger seat and looking out the window, when down on a road below the one we are on I see a fancy kitchen/culinary shop and in the window, just for set decoration, they have two vintage stoves. One was wide and white. I just thought it looked like a nice stove, very classic, and then I squinted (in the dream) and could make out the grayish "chambers" script on the front. I got all quivery, because I really thought it was a Chambers Imperial Model. And even though (even in the dream) we have no money, I was like, oh, that's the holy grail down there, I have to touch it!

So I told Tim and we drove down to the street to go in, except (long story) there are several different sets of stairwells we had to access to get to the showroom we had seen from the street (? I know.)

When we finally come into the shop from like some back room, I see that it is in fact a gleaming, stately Imperial. So solid and trustworthy, like the institution it must have fed over the years. I'm so excited to be in its presence, but also fearful that we might draw the attention of the fussy culinary gadget people milling all around us to what was meant as mere set-dressing.

A salesman comes over and shows me the price tag: $847. Just as bold as one of those tags on The Price is Right. And I was very excited. I say, and Tim is with me in the dream, so I'm mainly addressing him, that that's more money than I have for a stove, but that I know someone in another state who would not object too much to that price (Which I feel is a GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT. Does that mean that even in my dreams I am a savvy bargain shopper? If so, I make myself proud!)

I'm posting so you know even my unconscious is considerate of you, and to say: Thanks for turning me into one of you, freak! nah, I love it.

In just 4 months. Sheesh. With the proliferation of stickys on the main board maybe this should be added as a cautionary tale.

I have never dreamed about a Chambers before?even my own?at least that I can recall.
